Primary Programmes (GS-CP-CE1-CE2-CM1-CM2)

Our section proposes three options for English-speaking, primary-aged children. All three programme require the same level of English, the difference being the number of hours offered, the admissibility of the child (based on his/her French academic dossier) or the family’s home address.

Children in the Integrated programme are enrolled full-time either in Pasteur Primary School or in Jules Verne Primary School* where they follow their French and English schooling. The pupils are required to have a strong academic dossier and speak, read & write French AND English to an age-appropriate level. This programme is offered at the GS, CP, CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 levels (5-10 years old).

  • As Pasteur Primary School and Jules Verne Primary School are subject to a catchment area, ideally families live within these areas.
  • If the catchment area is not possible, places may be awarded if you live in the towns of La Celle-Saint-Cloud or Noisy-le-Roi, although this is dependant on space on Pasteur/Jules Verne Primary School and is not guaranteed.
  • For families living outside La Celle-Saint-Cloud or Noisy-le-Roi, “dérogations” or dispensations may be requested but these are awarded on merit by the French Education Board and, being dependant on space in the Primary School, are limited in number.

*Since September 2024, we also offer an integrated CM1/CM2 programme in Jules Verne Primary School in Noisy-le-Roi.

The pupils have 3 hours of English plus 3 hours of Science & Geography (or age-equivalent such as “Découvert du Monde”). The Section Internationale lessons take place on 2 half-days a week. The pupils will have NO lessons on Wednesday mornings (French or English…).

This is the timetable for the school year 2024-2025.

In Pasteur Primary School:

  • GS = Tuesday (1.30 – 4.30 pm) and Thursday (1.30 – 4.30 pm) – Ramona Raphael

Our External programme has been established for families who choose to have their child attend the local primary school for their regular French schooling, possibly because they live too far away for the daily commute or due to a lack of space in Pasteur or Jules Verne Primary Schools. It is available for children at GS, CP, CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 levels (5-10 years old) for Pasteur Primary. CM1 and CM2 levels only for Jules Verne Primary School.

The pupils have 3 hours of English plus 3 hours of Science & Geography (or age-equivalent such as “Découvert du Monde”). GrandChêne Section Internationale lessons take place on 2 half-days a week so the external pupils come twice a week to Pasteur or Jules Verne to join the pupils of the Integrated programme. From CP to CM2, the pupils will have NO lessons on Wednesday mornings (French or English…).

This programme does require the availability of an adult to bring the child twice a week to La Celle Saint-Cloud or Noisy-le-Roi and parents must maintain close contact with their child’s French teacher to ensure that any missed lessons are made up.

Please note that External places can only be offered to children living in the Yvelines (78) and being schooled in French public (state) primary schools.

This is the timetable for the school year 2024-2025.

This programme starts in Grande Section (5 years old) and goes through to CM2 (10 years old). Children participate in 3 hours of English in classes held on Wednesdays. It is a programme that appeals to families whose children go to their local primary school and who can offer solid English help at home. The Wednesday primary programme sees families making the trip once a week to La Celle St Cloud from surrounding towns and villages.

This is also an interesting solution for children returning from abroad where they have been in international or independent schools with little or no French schooling. Whilst maintaining their bilingual level of English, the children can concentrate on their French subjects with a view to applying for the Integrated programme later on or in preparation for college (middle school), as both programmes require a solid academic dossier in French.

Lessons take place at Pasteur Primary School, La Celle St Cloud on Wednesday mornings from 9-12 noon. Families are requested to arrive on time for drop-off and pick-up as entry to the school is carefully monitored. Late arrivals disturb the lessons as our teachers are obliged to come and pick them up at the door.

We can still accept mid-year entries for the Primary Wednesday Programme, dependant on the level.
All testing will be individual or distance testing at a cost of 110 € (75 € for GS and CP).

Not all levels have spaces so please contact us BEFORE submitting an application as the application fees are non-refundable.
