OUR MISSION & VALUES
MISSION
GrandChêne Section Internationale is a non-profit organisation run by an Executive Committee of dedicated parent volunteers. Our aim is to enrich our students’ education by providing them with a bilingual and bicultural approach to their studies. We focus on enabling each child to achieve his or her potential in English, in complement to their French national curriculum studies, equipping them with the necessary skills to succeed in a global society.
We take pride in offering a programme that is economically accessible. There are no fees for the French public school system and, as a non-profit organisation, we ensure that rates for our fee-paying Section Internationale programmes are fair and competitive.
OUR VALUES
What makes us unique is our focus on academic excellence combined with a supportive, student-centered teaching approach, and the strong sense of community amongst our students, families, staff and partner schools.
Academic excellence
We employ qualified native English-speaking teachers, with credentials in their subject areas and/or in education. Our standards for student admissions are high, both in English language proficiency as in overall academics, as our bilingual programmes pose additional demands to the French national curriculum that require dedication and good time-management. The pedagogical programs we offer follow the British curriculum and include renowned international examinations. We are proud to have a consistent 100% success rate on the Brevet and Baccalauréat Français international (BFI).
Student-centred teaching
We focus on nurturing each child to achieve their full potential in English, through a supportive and student-centered teaching approach. We purposely limit the size of our teaching groups to allow for more individualized learning – all of our classes have fewer than eighteen students. We also offer support programs and workshops for both students and parents in areas such as stress management, communication and conflict resolution skills, and career counselling.
Community
Our wonderful English-speaking community rounds out what makes us truly special. We have a vibrant and dynamic Section community with both formal and informal events: play dates, potluck dinners, carpools, book clubs, parents’ night out, Christmas shows… the list is long! In addition, we maintain a strong sense of community and collaboration amongst our parent volunteers, staff and partner schools.
