College Programme (6ème-5ème-4ème-3ème)
GrandChêne British Section Collège Programme offers a fully recognized Section Internationale education, preparing students for success in the French system while mastering the British curriculum. This rigorous programme is recognized by the French Ministry of Education, allowing students to pursue the highly valued Mention Internationale at the end of the 3ème year.
Academic Excellence and International Accreditation
Students in the Collège Programme receive intensive instruction totaling 6 hours of English per week:
-
English Literature & Language: 4 hours per week.
-
History & Geography: 2 hours per week (taught in English).
This structured curriculum ensures academic excellence and early preparation for international qualifications:
-
Brevet (DNB): Students work towards obtaining the Mention Internationale for the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB) at the end of the 3ème year (last year of middle school).
-
IGCSE Preparation: Preparation for the rigorous IGCSE English Literature examination begins at this stage, with students sitting the exam at the end of Seconde (first year of high school).
Location: Public Colleges in Paris Ouest
This Section Internationale program is offered within French public Collèges (Middle Schools). Both institutions are situated in attractive suburbs west of Paris in the Yvelines (78) area, surrounded by the beautiful forests of Fausses Reposes and Marly.
These colleges are known for their consistently excellent Brevet results, ensuring students benefit from a high-achieving academic environment while specializing in the British curriculum.
College Pasteur in La Celle Saint-Cloud is a small, family-oriented college with approximately 440 students and is part of the Groupe Scolaire with Pasteur Primary School. Pupils attending this school also come from Rueil-Malmaison, Bougival, Louveciennes & Vaucresson.
College Jean Baptiste de la Quintinye, Noisy le Roi is a larger college with approximately 660 students. Follow this link to have a virtual tour of the Collège.
It has excellent sports facilities and public transport links. The train L connects Noisy le Roi with Saint Nom la Bretèche, Mareil Marly and Saint Germain en Laye. Buses run from Versailles (17), Plaisir (20), Vaucresson (76), Marly le Roi (75) and Saint Cyr l’Ecole (77). There is also the new Tram that connects Noisy le Roi and Bailly to Saint Germain en Laye (RER A) and Saint Cyr l’Ecole (RER C and trains to Montparnasse).
The college serves the towns of Noisy le Roi and Bailly; a little less well-known than La Celle-Saint-Cloud but both towns offer many activities (sports, cultural etc) in beautiful countryside, only 10 minutes from Versailles. The attached video will give you a taste of what Bailly can offer.
It also serves a wider area, including Maule, Crespières and Mareil sur Mauldre for some GrandChêne families as “dérogations” are available.
